Walking Man, A Novel

Tim W. Brown is author of the recent novel Walking Man (Bronx River Press), a fictional biography of America's most famous zine publisher set in the 1980s-90s. Brown is a veteran zinester, having published Tomorrow Magazine, a poetry zine, from 1982-99. He was a planner of the now-legendary Underground Press Conference held annually in Chicago in 1994-96, and he currently is an advocate for small and indie presses as a board member of the New York Center for Independent Publishing.

Trees & Hills Comics Group

Trees & Hills is a community hub for cartoonists in Vermont, New Hampshire, and western Massachusetts. They share news, run a distro, have get-togethers, and publish anthologies. Their latest anthology (June '08) is about music and comes with a CD; the next one (Sep. '08) is about food and will include recipes and vegetable seeds.

It caters to all people with Celiac Disease, but especially to Jewish Celiacs who have a need for "kosher" gluten-free food. JCN, for short, features articles on Celiac Disease, kosher food, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Autism, Jewish diseases like Tay Sachs and Canavan, and has list of kosher bakeries, restaurants, and shops, as well as eateries that may have a gluten-free menu.

The zine Decades Of Confusion Feed The Insect has existed for thirteen years. It has been an ongoing document of writing and visual art, primarily, though not exclusively, by myself (Justin Duerr). By the time of Philly Zine Fest 2008, the zine will most likely have reached the 55th. issue. Since 2001, several issues were realized in the form of large posters, with standard "half-sized" zines filling the gaps between them. I hope to complete 70 of the large poster editions in my lifetime.
